Happy Monday... it is March 9, 2026, and I can already feel the shift in the air.
Monday Motivation is always about starting fresh, right? But since it's March, that "fresh start" feeling is amplified. We aren't just looking at a new week; we are looking at a new season.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the word "clutter." Usually, we think of old boxes in the garage or a stack of mail on the kitchen counter. But for us small business owners, clutter is often invisible. It’s the strategy that doesn’t work anymore, the digital files that make us want to scream, and the "dead weight" in our operations that keeps us from actually growing.
I found it interesting how much lighter I feel when I just clear off my desk, so imagine what happens when we clear out the "junk" in our business models.
So, I wanted to share some thoughts... five simple ways to spring clean your business so you can actually make room for the growth you’ve been planning.
I recommend starting with the big picture. When was the last time you actually looked at your business plan? And I don’t mean the 50-page document you wrote three years ago to get a loan... I mean your living strategy.
Market conditions change so fast. I mean, look at how much 2026 has already thrown at us. Your business plan should be an active tool, not a museum piece.
I find that revisiting my goals every quarter: or at the start of spring: is a good read on whether I'm still on the right path.
It’s okay to pivot. In fact, is your growing business ready for change? It usually is, but only if you’re willing to clear out the old ideas first.
Digital clutter is the silent productivity killer. I did not write this to scare you, but a messy inbox and a chaotic Google Drive are basically just digital dust bunnies that slow down your brain.
I suggest spending a few hours this week: maybe an hour every morning: just sorting.
If this feels like too much, I totally get it. That’s often where people realize they need help. Sometimes a virtual assistant helps startups save money and time by handling this exact type of digital maintenance.
This one is a little tougher... but it’s so important for growth. You have to evaluate your relationships.
Clients: Review your client list. Who are the "dream" clients who drive your growth and bring you joy? And who are the ones that take up 80% of your time for 20% of your revenue? Spring is a great time to nurture the good ones and perhaps "bless and release" the ones that are no longer a fit.
Vendors & Partners: Check your subscriptions and partnerships. Are you paying for software you don't use? Are your vendors still delivering the quality you need?
Team: How is the team morale? If you are managing people, remember that leadership in 2026 is about balancing empathy with results. Use this season to check in with them. Maybe they have ideas on how to declutter their own workflows.
If your marketing feels "stale," your customers can tell.
I recommend looking at your current tactics and being brutally honest. If you’ve been posting on a platform for six months and haven't seen a single lead... why are you still there?
We often try to do everything when we should be doing three things really well. Declutter your marketing plan until only the most effective parts remain.
I’m a big believer that your physical workspace reflects your mental state...
If your desk is covered in old coffee mugs and sticky notes from last year, your brain is going to feel crowded.
I found that once I organized my office, I actually wanted to work more. I felt more creative. It’s about creating a space where you can actually think.
If you're struggling with the operational side of things: the "how" of making all this work smoothly: you might want to look into some operations support. It’s amazing how much faster you can move when the systems are actually working for you instead of against you.
Growth doesn't always come from adding more. Sometimes, it comes from taking away the things that are holding you back.
It’s about making room... Room for new clients. Room for new ideas. Room for a little more peace of mind.
I did not write this to add to your to-do list, but to help you shorten it. Take it one step at a time. Maybe today you just clean your desk. Tomorrow, you unsubscribe from five emails. By Friday, you'll feel like a new person.
I'd love to hear how you're decluttering this season... drop a comment or send us a message!
If you're feeling stuck and need a partner to help you navigate these changes, we're here. Whether it's a deep dive into your strategy or just getting some administrative weight off your shoulders, let's talk.
